Description
-Presented is a charming American coin silver pie or pastry server. This piece dates to circa 1850 and was made in Salem, Massachusetts. The blade of the server is fabulously hand engraved with an intricate, bright cut foliate design, like ivy or grape leaves surrounded by little vines. The handle is likewise decorated with fine hand engraved designs, surrounding a monogram of D in Gothic script.This piece is in great condition. The details of the hand engraved designs are nice and crisp. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The server is stamped coin for the purity of the silver, as well as Salem and a retail mark for B. M. Chamberlain & Son.
The server is about 8 5/8 inches long.
The server weighs 54 grams or 1.9 regular ounces.
