(November 25, 1684 - August 17, 1729) was born in New York City and moved to Philadelphia with his mother and stepfather becoming a silversmith and goldsmith. Joseph Richardson, Sr. also worked both as a goldsmith and a silversmith. Two of his sons, Joseph Richardson, Jr. and Nathaniel Richardson also became silversmiths
